January 28 - Burns Night Celebration hosted by the Friends of the Scottish Tartans Museum - Tartan Hall, Franklin First Presbyterian Church. Activities begin at 5:30 p.m. with the parade of tartans. October 13-15 -"Mountain Memories," Smoky Mountain Quilters Guild, Inc. Biennial Quilt Show at Macon County Community Center, Rt. 441 South, Franklin, NC. The show includes entries from local and national quilters, and is NQA judged. Highlighted will be a silent auction sale of small quilted wall hangings, vendors booths, and members' boutique. Lectures by Linda Cantrell, "Mistakes and How to Overcome Them," on Thursday night from 7-9 p.m. and by Jane Buckwalter, "Antebellum (Civil War) to Present," on Friday night from 7-9 p.m. will be held nearby at Tartan Hall, Presbyterian Church on 26 Church Street, Franklin. The fee for admission to the lectures is included in the cost of the 3-day pass at $10. Single day admission to the quilt show is $5.00.
